As part of the upcoming National Patient Safety Awareness Week, the UM-Jackson Center for Patient Safety is excited to host a Simulation demonstration by MedVision. Based right here in Florida, MedVision will demonstrate an adult patient simulator, Leonardo; a pediatric simulator, Arthur; an infant simulator, Mia; and a MedVision Auscultation Task Trainer (MATT). Please join the Center for Patient Safety team in learning about these new simulation products and the opportunities they present to impact healthcare education as well as the safety and quality of patient care.
This open-house demo will take place on Wednesday, March 16, from 11 am to 3 pm at the Center for Patient Safety, Park Plaza West, Suite F-1, 1611 NW 12th Ave, Miami FL. Refreshments will be provided. If you need directions or any other information, please let me know.

The usage of immersive technology allows for more students to be virtually present for clinical encounter simultaneously and allows for supervising physicians to be present from remote locations. Using a hands-free, voice activated, headset capable of bridging the gap between physical and virtual care, healthcare providers, educators, and learners can overcome the barrier of time, distance, and training to deliver all the benefits of an in-person experience through the convenience of a remote environment. These more contemporary augmented reality devices offer stronger compliance with privacy and security protocols that are required by the clinical affiliated partners, using high encrypted Internet and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards Recently due to restrictions put in place because of the Covid-19 pandemic students have not been able to participate in clinical activities, engaging with patients and medical professionals. Here we have devised a Tele - Ambulatory Health Care Experience (Tele-AHCE) model that allows students the opportunity to remotely interact with actual patients at one of our partner clinics. Participation in this course not only provides students the opportunity to cultivate interviewing and physical exam skills but also allows students to observe a multi-professional team approach to patient management.

The International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) is a scientific conference that explores the latest innovations and best practices in healthcare simulation.
