Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) Readiness Review
Register early! Space is limited to 30 attendees and registration will close on Monday, September 30.
Gain the confidence and knowledge you need to become a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) in this live online, two-day course presented by the University of Central Florida College of Nursing in collaboration with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).
Led by UCF’s faculty experts who are among the first 20 in the world to earn advanced certification in the field (CHSE-A), this one-day course is designed to build your core knowledge of healthcare simulation principles and practice.
In the SSH CHSE Exam Blueprint Review Workshop, attendees will:
- Learn the components of the certification process. This interactive course introduction will focus on exam prerequisites, the application process and study resources.
- Identify your simulation knowledge and practice strengths and weaknesses. The CHSE exam blueprint (see below) will be the basis for discussion.
- Develop your personal study action plan. Instructors will help you create a step-by-step action plan that includes a timeline, study tools and resources, key dates and more.
The CHSE Blueprint Review explores the CHSE Blueprint Knowledge Domains:
- Professional Values and Capabilities
- Healthcare and Simulation Knowledge/Principles
- Educational Principles Applied to Simulation
- Simulation Resources and Environments
There is new CHSE Blueprint Reference Manual! This brand-new Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) resource is comprised of a summary and practice questions with rationales for each KSA. You can get yours HERE for only $89.
Two-Day Course Information
Date: Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8
Time: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. EST, each day

Questions? Email nursingevents@ucf.edu
Note: The SSH Readiness Course is NOT test or exam prep, and does not contain instruction on how to pass SSH Certification Exams. It is a study and review course, built on the framework of the SSH Certification Blueprints, designed to help you and identify gaps in your knowledge and application of simulation practice.
Value-Added Practice Exam: Your course registration includes access to a 50-question certification practice exam (a $75 value). The questions and answers are written by the same individuals who have written the questions on the official CHSE exam. Moreover, rationales have been provided for each question to help the individual understand how exam questions are written. Additional information on the practice exam and the link for attending will be sent directly from SSH approximately 3-5 business days after completing the review course.
Accreditation Statement: In support of improving patient care, the Society for Simulation in Healthcare is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive a maximum of 7.0 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.
Expert Instructors
This live online, two-day SSH Readiness Course will be led by two of the world’s first 20 certified advanced healthcare simulation educators (CHSE-A) who are both on faculty at the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Nursing.
Mindi Anderson PhD, APRN, CPNP-PC, CNE, CHSE-A, ANEF, FSSH, FAAN
An early pioneer in the field of healthcare simulation education, Dr. Mindi Anderson is a widely published researcher and has presented her findings both nationally and internationally.
She is currently director of the Health Care Simulation Program at UCF, one of only a few nationwide that prepares leaders in the rapidly growing field. She also serves as the Associate Dean for Simulation and Immersive Learning.
For her significant contributions to simulation and nursing education, she was honored by becoming fellows in the Academy of Nursing Education, the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, and the American Academy of Nursing.
Desiree A. Díaz PhD, FNP-BC, CNE, CHSE-A, ANEF, FAAN
Dr. Desiree Díaz has spent more than a decade seeking to improve healthcare disparities in ethnically diverse and underserved patient populations using healthcare simulation education and training. Her research has been widely published and presented.
Díaz is an esteemed fellow of both the Academy of Nursing Education and Academy of Nursing with contributions to nursing education, innovation and advancing health equity.
Currently, she is associate professor at the UCF College of Nursing and oversees all undergraduate simulation at the college as the Undergraduate Simulation Coordinator. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University working with nationally renowned simulation expert Dr. Pamela Jeffries.
